In 1972, Ray Champion started Champion Concrete Products in Troy Missouri, in what we now call our Old Plant.  Originally the primary products manufactured were burial vaults, parking curbs and median barriers.  When Ray was ready to retire, the current ownership of Champion Precast Inc. purchased the company from him in 1987.

Our current ownership ran another precast plant in Wentzville, Missouri and in 1998 our owners merged the two plants here in Troy, Missouri.  In 1985, we began working with Ameren and then became AT&T’s supplier in 1990.  Our current location here in Troy has given us the much-needed elbow room; since then, we have been growing steadily.   Champion Precast has grown from a small operation to one of the largest suppliers of precast concrete products in the Midwest.   We have achieved this growth with hands-on leadership, excellent staff, innovated designs, creative ideas, and attention to our customer’s needs.

As of today, we have delivered to 37 U.S. states, including Hawaii, and as far away as Antarctica.  We have over 10,000 molds.  Most of our products are installed underground.  Currently, we are producing inlets, manholes, electrical / communication vaults, handholes, wastewater products, lift stations, wet wells, water meter vaults, barrier, retaining walls and custom precast products.  However, if what you are looking for cannot be produced in our current mold selection, we use what they call hand-forms.  We can create any size or any shape you are needing.  Our custom product orders account for 25% of our business. Our production and fabrication teams are talented artists.

With this growth, we have been fortunate and added many improvements over the years since 1987.  We have expanded and added on to existing buildings, built new buildings.  Purchased a 100,000-pound forklift, that has opened many doors for us to produce new products.  Recently, we also purchased a Schnell automatic rebar machine.  We also have two (2) 25-ton and three (3) 10-ton overhead cranes, which gives us 100,000-pound capacity in the plant.  As well as (2) two 2-yard Teka mixers that can put out 2-yards of concrete every four (4) minutes.  LED motion activated lighting in every building, 658 solar panels currently (and looking to add more in the near future to try to eliminate our carbon footprint), newer software to help maximize our efficiency in the office, and fiber internet.  We currently own 30 forklifts and 12 trucks, which we have an amazing team to do all the mechanic work ourselves.

You can see our growth over the years in some aerial pictures that have been taken in 1985, 2000 and 2015 as well as a short video of our current solar panels.
